An American psychologist, Abraham Maslow, became widely known for developing a theory of psychological health. With this in mind, his research discovered people tend to motivate around the ability to achieve certain needs for reaching a level of fulfillment in their lives. Maslowââ¬â¢s concept, known as the hierarchy of needs, brought into prominence the notion of self-actualization introduced some years earlier by Kurt Goldstein. In San Jose California letters were written to two mosques expressing what the individuals think Donald Trump will do to Muslims when he is in office. The letters included items such as ââ¬Å"He will do to you what Hitler did to the Jewsâ⬠, ââ¬Å"You Muslims would be wise to pack your backsâ⬠, ââ¬Å"There is a new sheriff in town- President Donald Trump, He is going to cleanse America and make it shine again. As such, the effectivity of the manufacturing process increases through the adoption of a lean management system. According to Blijleven and Gong (2015), it has been helpful in reducing the manufacturing defects, earlier left undetected. Thus, the lean management processes has been effective in reducing any discrepancies that might have crept in the manufacturing process. In this regard, it can be said that in the case of the business organization the operational efficiencies of the brand has improved to a considerable extent when the lean management system has been adopted in the business organization (Wyton and Payne 2014). Thus, this has contributed largely in achieving organizational sustainability. Lesser inventory waste The lean management system has led to greater operational efficiencies through the reduction of inventory waste. Jylha and Junnila (2013) mentioned that the loss of inventory in the manufacturing processes of the business organization has been of pertinent issue and concern to the production department. Besides this, this has led to increased operational expenses for the business enterprise. The lean management system adopted oin the business organization has assisted to prevent such issues. Requirement of lesser space- Due to the lesser requirements of the inventory levels and manpower in the production process, there shall be greater space available (Goetsch and Davis 2014). Thus activities like receive count, stock, store pick as well as deliver would be performed with greater efficiency. Ensuring a safer work environment- The lean processes would make the production process safer and would reduce the chance of any accidents. According to Wyton and Payne (2014),this shall drastically reduce the chances of any untoward accident endangering the lives of the employees. The production process shall have lesser tools and equipments in the manufacturing processes of the business manufacturing processes. Conclusion It can be said that lean management has been a recent innovation that has assisted any business organization to achieve production as well as operational competencies. In this regard, it can be said that it is especially useful in the manufacturing sector , to reduce the production waste and enhance the manufacturing processes of the department. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth Relationship free essay sample

But screw your courage to the sticking place, And weââ¬â¢ll not fail. â⬠When Macbeth kills Duncan he forgets to leave the daggers because the shock he is in, which is evident as he hears voices, later cannot sleep and is unable to say ââ¬Å"amenâ⬠after prayer. This is where Lady Macbeth comes in and leaves the daggers beside two innocent men. The first time Macbeth strays from the plan could be viewed as accidental, afterward, Lady Macbeth manages to rectify the problem and makes her husband pull himself together and go to bed so that noone will suspect them. It is the next morning that he intentionally goes against the plan and it is at this point we see the power shift and the beginning of the relationship breakdown. Macbeth kills the grooms. When Lady Macbeth hears the news that her once ââ¬Å"dearest partner of greatnessâ⬠has done this she faints. Her power over him is no more and after she has fallen, Macbeth makes no effort to go and see if she is alright. This lack of care shown by Macbeth increases throughout as their love and marriage breakdown. After Macbethââ¬â¢s coronation, Lady Macbeth fades into the background. It is at this point that Macbeth begins to plan the murder of Banquo and his son yet does not tell his wife. This is a dramatic change in their relationship as in Act on he consulted her when he was only having thoughts about the murder of the King and now he is about to kill his best friend yet she is to know nothing. He no longer needs herà approvalà nor is he totally truthful with her. He is sharing his problems with Lady Macbeth yet she keeps quiet about hers. They have stopped sharing all their emotions as well. Along with this lack of sharing, Macbeth also appears to have stopped viewing Lady Macbeth as an equal: ââ¬Å"Be innocent of the knowledge, dearest chuck,â⬠Not only does he withhold information from her, he refers to her as ââ¬Å"chuckâ⬠which bears little similarity to his ââ¬Å"dearest partner of greatnessâ⬠we heard him refer to in Act one. At this stage however, he continues to have fond feelings towards her; these soon fade to indifference. He also does not inform her about the murder of Macduffââ¬â¢s family, perhaps he does not see it important anymore to communicate with his wife. Lady Macbeth does not appear at all during Act four and is not mentioned by Macbeth. He has now started to place al his faith in the witches and is totally committed to evil as opposed to his ââ¬Å"belovedâ⬠wife. The couple are never again seen together and when Lady Macbeth begins to have nightmares and a doctor is brought in. Cure her of that;â⬠Macbeth shows noà love forà his wife as he speaks to the doctor. He wishes he cured so that she will cease to sleepwalk and talk in her sleep. He fears that someone who hears her talking will figure out that he is guilty of the killing of Duncan, he does not show any emotion or concern for her well being. ââ¬Å"The Queen my lord is deadâ⬠When he is told this news, his re action shows us that he has no love left for Lady Macbeth. He shows no signs of sadness. All he can say is: ââ¬Å"She should have died hereafter: There would have been time for such a word. The man has no time to grieve his dead wife. The relationship broke down long ago, but, it is at this point that we see to just what extent. To conclude, Lady Macbeth and Macbeth enjoyed a close intimacy in theà openingà scenes. He looked to her for strength and motivation because both he and Lady Macbeth knew he didnââ¬â¢t have the required courage to kill Duncan. However the closeness and intimacy suddenly diminishes when he acts independently and Lady Macbeth loses control over him. In the end they were like strangers on the opposite side of the spectrum. Macbeth: maniacally and ruthlessly ambitious and Lady Macbeth: crazy with fear for the future of her husband. She knew the Macbeth in the opening scenes but she didnââ¬â¢t know the Macbeth at the end of the play. I believe that the relationship between Macbeth and his wife Lady Macbeth had to deteriorate because we saw how Macbeth killed Macduffââ¬â¢s family and i think he had to lose someone to understand the pain of losing the people you love. The downfall of their relationship was a pay off for their actions earlier in the play which was also accompanied by their deaths.

In The Novel 1984, George Orwells Predictions Of The Future Are Reall
In the novel 1984, George Orwell's predictions of the future are really advice, ?Don't let the government control every aspect of your private lives.? If we allow this we will be turned into robots of the system. Perhaps it is also a look at what is already. In many ways we are controlled, we are robots. In kindergarten we are taught how to be that way. ?Stand in a line, don't talk, hands out of pockets, fire drill, bells ringing.? We are truly controlled by words and bells. Nine-teen-eighty-four has come and gone; however that doesn't mean we are safe. The author's view of the future is no longer even close to accurate. It will NEVER happen that way. No, today we have far BETTER ways of this happening. With computers containing almost all data, which can be quickly erased in large numbers at the touch of a button, information is much easier to ?rectify?. With new technology we could hide microphones in the fabric of clothing. Video cameras are smaller today. They could be worn about people. Maybe in the future be implanted in them. Orwell's future is dead. The reality is that it could be even worse. Orwell should NOT be discredited; he should be listened to and praised. There are measures going through congress now that will inhibit our rights in the future. Our own congress makes measures to give themselves raises. They won't vote yes on such bills as term limits. It is not inconceivable that a bill could pass to law saying that the president and congress shall stay in power forever. They could even convince us to allow it to happen. This is the future Orwell predicted; he just didn't have it exact. Perhaps it is being closer than we think only being shaded by conspirators. I loved this novel. It ranks far up there on my list of the best, if not the best. Not only did it keep me reading until the end, it told very much about where we are headed by not actually saying it. It also told you things by saying it. The entire principles of INGSOC may seem absurd, an d to the intelligent person impossible. However, they do have a certain air of universality. You can draw parallels to today. The way our congress and president act seems to be heading toward this type of government. It won't be exactly as Orwell put it, and it will be shaded even more. Perhaps if it does happen, it will be done right, and never end. This is what Orwell portrayed in the novel. He left the world in the exact same way we found it, minus a few people. Actually, they never existed. The sad thing is with today's technology; I see this coming closer and closer. All someone has to do is piece it together.

There are numerous reasons for businesses to operate in an ethical and socially responsible manner. There are government regulations, corporate belief systems, and basic common sense. There needs to be a overall intent to be ethical and socially responsible in todayââ¬â¢s business environment in order to stay successful. Ethics in Business In business today there are many instances of corporations that act from an ethical standard, including the company that I work for. In the wake of scandals such as Enron and Imclone it is more important than ever that companies make an effort to push out improper behavior and practices if they wish to stay in business. One example of good business practices is the case of Henry Thomas, a cellular technician for Southern Bell, who was asked to randomly terminate five employees as a disciplinary measure. He refused to do so based on his moral code, and was then terminated. He decided to go into business for himself and dedicate his business to God. He states that, ââ¬Å"The Bible tells us that Godââ¬â¢s eyes are looking to and fro throughout the earth for those whose hearts are wholly committed to him. Every day, I pray that God would give us wisdom and that he would find us usable so that we can continue our mission to help others and to show God how much we love him.â⬠(Mi ller, 1). When Thomas rededicated his efforts to God and his business, his small business has grown to the point where they have monthly earnings in excess of $10 million. Not bad for just following your moral code and Godââ¬â¢s plan. Another area where ethics are important is the government sector. It is important for the government to act in an ethical manner so that we, as citizens can have faith that the right things are being done for the right reasons. I was pleased to find that the government is active in the form of a website called the developmental gateway, which contains articles on topics such as ethics and social responsibility in government sectors and business sectors. It is extremely informative and a good source of information on how things are handled in government. The importance of ethics in business is seen all the way into the structural natures of businesses. It is not just a notion that you have; it is in the way a business operates that can show the importance of ethics in your company. The dedication to ethics must come from the highest ranks of the organization. In order to have a principled company, you must have a principled leadership. Principled leaders ââ¬Å"â⬠¦have their goals and views in line with all stakeholders in the company such as workers, stockholders, customers, and communities ââ¬Å" (Batstone, 86). Another factor involved in principled leaders is credibility, credibility is ââ¬Å"â⬠¦intangible characteristics that lead their people to believe in and work towards objectives. Earning credibility is a daily, uphill journey that has to be continually renewed.â⬠(Kouzes, 125). Credibility is something that many of the companies involved in scandals have lost. Getting it back will be either impossible or a t remendous effort. One way to handle the effects of any kind of catastrophe or scandal is to have a crisis management system in place. Crisis management is ââ¬Å"â⬠¦a systemic initiative to prevent man-induced catastrophes from effecting the organization negatively.â⬠(Mitroff, 17). At my place of employment, we have an emergency response team in order to respond to any medical, chemical, and hazardous material situation. I think that this is a valid method of crisis management and will help if there is ever any problems in the future. Another very important area for ethics to be apparent is the medical field. Banja states in his interview that ethics are important because ââ¬Å"â⬠¦health care is so unpredictable, uncertain, stressful, and contains such high-stakes, that many practitioners exaggerate their competence. They come to believe that one ought never appear ignorant, uncertain, hesitant, or wrong. They work hard on convincing themselves and others that they are eminently capable, indeed, outstanding, so that when something like an error does occur, the cognitive dissonance it creates is traumatic because it threatens their self-image.â⬠(Banja 1). The public often hears of tragedies that occur on the operating table, such as instruments left inside the body, or wrong limbs operated on. These instances scare people and lead to mistrust. It is essential that physicians maintain ethical standards so that they can maintain the trust that we need to place in them as customers. Social Responsibility in Business With the amount of pollution in the world today it is very important for business to be socially responsible in operation. For instance, my company has its own environmental department, which takes care of any environmental issues that may occur in our daily operations. Another instance of a corporation being ecologically sensitive is the case of Bainbridge Graduate Institute. Bainbridge Graduate Institute has committed itself to 100% use of renewable energy sources. One of Bainbridgeââ¬â¢s faculty stated, ââ¬Å"Our purchase of green tags [renewable energy certificates] is a natural extension of our mission to teach sustainable business practicesâ⬠(www.epa.gov). It is important to note that Bainbridge is not the first to try this practice, but they are one of the most successful. Another case of social responsibility is the Brazilian sugar markets. These companies are becoming more globalized and are coming under the scrutiny of many other governments. Once used to free reign as far as their overall actions were concerned. One thing they are learning is that ââ¬Å"Bad publicity can translate into a lower stock priceâ⬠(Vogel, ethicsworld.com). Also, Frank Vogl in his article says that, ââ¬Å"For business, coming to terms with this vital and complex agenda (social responsibility) means new strategies and corporate behaviors.â⬠(Vogl, ethicsworld.com). Hopefully the Brazilian sugar makers will realize that they cannot exploit people or resources and continue to be profitable in this day and age. People are more valuable than to be used as mere commodities. In conclusion, Ethics and Social Responsibility are very important for modern businesses to possess to function productively and profitably. In a world that has been rocked my multiple corporate scandals and environmental disasters, it is essential that companies put forth the effort to regain and maintain the trust of their customers and the public in general. Hopefully the efforts of organizations like Bainbridge Graduate Institute, and people like Henry Thomas will help to regain some of the footing that has been lost over the years. Situation Analysis Issue and Opportunity Identification Global Communications (or GC for short) is in a tight situation because of financial downslides and also due to tough competitions. To further add to its woes, the entire telecommunications sector was also not showing good growth. The fact that validates the GC tough scenario is the 50 percent depreciation it suffered in its stock value, leading to a struggling financial situation. With many competitors fighting for the same local, national as well as international markets, offering slew of new services like complete solutions for computers, televisions and plain old telephone service (POT), Global is facing very tough competition. To overcome this tough situation, beat off the competitors and increase the profits, the GCââ¬â¢s senior leadership team has come up with a two-pronged aggressive approach. The first plan is to, come up with their own new services, which can compete with the local telephone and cable companies. In that direction, GC got associated with a satellite provider, and has plans to offer value added services like video services and satellite version of broadband. This partnership with a wireless satellite provider can actualize a scenario where the small business owners can have anytime Internet access, just by using their wireless telephones or PC cards. The second strategy as part of the two-pronged approach is cost-cutting through the removal of employees. For that, they have identified number of job designations, which can be removed, while absorbing a minor portion of employees in other departments. The laid off jobs will be moved to India and Ireland as part of outsourcing strategy. With GCââ¬â¢s analysis showing that outsourcing could reduce unit costs for handling calls by nearly 40%, and with GC wanting to become a global corporation, this plan appears feasible. However, when viewed from another perspective, it raises some organizational and ethical dilemmas.
